don't make the mistake of thinking TESCO is here to help save you money on your food bills.it's here to make as much money for it's share holders and to do this it brings cheep food produced by the poorest people from across the globe, is not interested in sustainability and will use middle men so it can appear innocent, and will never be interested in saving the planet by example.the excuse will always be "when our customers want us to ect" (a quote from Terry Lear, recently retired CEO of Tesco) If you want cheep unsustainable food at the cost of the planet and other peoples lives and don't want to leave anything for your grandchildren? ok, go shop at tesco. If you want to do what is moraly right, then keep away! Of course this doesn't mean you can't shop at tesco, just keep it to a minimum and purchase uk sustainable foods. By the way, not how many self service tills tesco now have, and more are planned.no, it's not to make your shopping better or faster, it's to cut wages and jobs (ask the staff at tesco) so much for the "we are providing masses of jobs for the area".

Why do we require yet another TESCO - Inverness hates being called Tescotown. Perhaps Highland Council should consider the people of Inverness who vote them in & not Highland Councils SHARES in Tesco!!

Why are the Inverness Councilors apparently so pro-Tesco and anti anybody else. We need some proper competition to Tesco, soon. Prices Inverness Tescos are far higher for both fuel and food than Elgin or Aberdeen.

For Tesco read greed.Thegroup seem to be aspiring towards the multi-national cartels which control and dictate our lives. And we know where limited competition leaves local and global economies.

Having seen what Tesco tried to do in my beloved Sheringham I would like to see more choice in the Highlands. Tesco say they "support" the Highlands which makes it sound like they are doing us a favour in some way. Does that mean the Inverness stores don't make a profit?

I did not know about the plans for this new TESCO and am disgusted to see the area it is planned for. It is time a stop was made to TESCO plans so that the public get a choice of stores.

Tesco needs to be stopped. They are destroying local communities and homogenising them. Soon Tescos will own us all, from cradle to grave.

It's good to see people standing against this. The rest of the UK need to realise how aggressive these big companies are, and that they don't care about us. Until we all put our foot down to them, they will continue to try to kill free market values in our towns. Thank you for setting an example and raising awareness of this, keep it up

3 tescos in a town this size is more than enough already. Plus, I hope there will be a traffic assessment at the new extended tesco in Inshes BEFORE Asda gets built along the road (not that we really need a walmart either).

I think that Tesco has become a retail government, dictating what you are allowed to buy and seemingly having the power to make sure you have very little choice of where you can shop.Fair competition should be allowed before Tesco drive every other retailer in the Highlands out of business, ie Highland Council let ASDA in to Inverness and Tain.

Having come here from America, I can honestly say that living in a place with NO choice, where the biggest nanny in the "nanny state" is the Highland Council, and where people are given crap for options, really hits hard. Everyone knows the only reason Tesco is spreading like a disease is because of the greased palms of the Council.

Too much Tesco - they force farmers and producers to work for virtually no profit, they don't give a toss about the environment - locally or worldwide (I give the planned store at Banff as an example) and they force out local businesses. What will happen to teh Dores post office/store if the fourth Inverness Tesco goes ahead? Go local or the Co-op, at least there you're a share-holder.

I really hope we get more signatures. The local landowners just give the land away to the highest bidder without a single thought to the community as a whole, but the public just keep letting it happen with cheap and nasty Tulloch homes and now another Tesco. We need a much stronger community voice or we'll just keep getting walked all over

I am sick of tesco's dominance, i am sick of the fact that the council hold shares in tesco and im sick of everyone thinking that asda will add anything other than what tesco already provide. Saying that I do still want to see asda here for more job opportunities.

yes, also bored and angry with Tesco - their prices are getting ridiculous - you get anyway fresher fruit and veg in Morrisons and Lidl . I am now t rying to buy more from Realfoods and the farmers markets . try it, it's worth the effort . and if you find you are paying more then maybe you won't throw so much in the bin . (everyone's guilty of buying a huge bag of veg and when it's passed its best chucking it, no?)
